Oracle Turkey’s Bloggers Meetup

Last week on 30th of March, I was at Oracle Turkey office to ask my questions about Big Data and Cloud. There were only 10 Bloggers selected to the meeting and I’m glad I was one of them.

It was not a presentation session made by Oracle Turkey peeps. It was a question & answer session lasting more than 2 hours and all the questions are handled briefly with supported presentations & slides (sometimes from the other guys attended to session).

Here were my questions, which I got all answered;

  • What is the value addition of Oracle Big Data Appliance for the companies and in which subjects?
  • What is the infrastructural highlights of Oracle Big Data Appliance and add-ins out-of-the-box? What do companies buy when they buy a Big Data Appliance box? Which licences are included and what will be the support level for non-Oracle products?
  • What is the relationship level of core Big Data actors in the industry (such as Cloudera)? Is there a native support for Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Golden Gate?
  • Do we – as IT world – misunderstand Big Data as a concept? What are the elements witin a Big Data project? Must we talk about NoSQL and unstructured data only? Vs (Volume, Variety, Velocity, Veracity, Value, etc.) and everybody’s theories?

It was a fantastic event and thanks to everybody who organised and attended.
